Politics & Religion

My Mom has always said never to talk about religion, sex and politics with the family. It's true that everyone has their own opinions and beliefs and they have the right to express them. But I find it easier not to get involved in heated arguments unless I feel strongly about something. I prefer to let everyone go back and forth and form my own opinions based on what I hear. I believe you have to talk about politics and religion to share knowledge and gain different view points. I don't follow politics so I don't really now about Obama and McCain. My family is predominantly democratic which I think has made me lean towards the Democratic party. Honestly, I think if I put more time into learning about these two men and how they wanted to bring about change I would be much more confident in talking about this. I love The View and I love when Whoopi and Elisabeth talk about these two candidates and their policies. They are two strong women who stick to their beliefs and I think it's interesting to listen to their views on politics. The fact that they are willing to put themselves out there and not care how people feel about what they're saying is intriguing to me. I have heard that McCain or just Republicans in general are against birth control and abortion. This is a very debated topic. I think for a woman who has been raped that it is terrible for them to have an abortion. But then on the other hand they didn't bring this upon themselves. In "North Country" Charlize Theron played the role of a woman who was raped by her teacher in High School. She had the baby and she was able to love her son despite the fact that he was the son of a disgusting man. I don't think that every woman can be as strong as the woman she played in the movie. There is no right answer to this abortion issue but it's unfortunate to think of the terrible circumstances. According to the church birth control is not allowed. I think in the modern world today many people have lost their connection to the church in the sense that they may go to church but do not follow it's teaching. I am not judging because I am not an active member in my church. ultimately I think everyone has the right to do what they want and live their life how they want. I have my set of values and morals and I will live my life according to what I believe in.
